16 Mar Support in the closing of Chapter 5 – Public Procurement
Vršac, 10 August 2017 – Representatives of the Public Procurement Office took a workshop in Vršac to learn about the requirements that need to be fulfilled in Chapter 5 of the process of accession to the European Union, in order to improve the Serbian public procurement system.
Over two days, they discussed the requirements, significance, and challenges of the negotiating process that in this chapter focuses on public procurement, as well as the experiences of countries that have completed this process.
Improving the public procurement system is a prerequisite for economic growth and development, with special emphasis on preventing corruption and using the electronic public procurement system.
What methodology gave the best results, how to formulate reports and approach relevant institutions about the fulfilment of the final benchmarks for Chapter 5—the audience heard about all this from Predrag Jovanović, Director of Public Procurement Office, Teja Kolar, Project Leader of the EU Support for Further Improvement of Public Procurement System in Serbia, and Darius Piaste, a public procurement expert.
This workshop is just one of a series of planned activities within the project titled EU Support for Further Improvement of Public Procurement System in Serbia, which is implemented by the German international development cooperation organization GIZ in consortium with KPMG d.o.o. and KPMG Advisory S.p.A.
