19 Jul Project continues along as planned: Focuss on finalization of Public Procurement Law and Public Procurement Portal
Belgrade, July 19, 2019 – The European Union project “Support for further improvement of Public Procurement System in the Republic of Serbia” will continue with implementation for the next five months, until December 14th, 2019. In the following period, the focus of the Project will be on the finalization of the Public Procurement Law, but also on many other activities that shall contribute to a stable and transparent system of public procurement.
Public Procurement Office and other institutions in the area of public procurement will receive significant support through the organization of the public procurement forums, the development of the remaining secondary legislation such as the regulation on defense and security procurement, providing various training on new provisions of the law and completing the development of a new Public Procurement Portal.
“The continuation of the Project is another major step in creating an efficient and reliable public procurement system in Serbia. A lot has been done in the previous period – we have supported the preparation of the new Strategy for the Development of Public Procurement, and the new Public Procurement Law and secondary legislation, we have organized numerous trainings, forums, practical workshops, but there are still a number of activities that we shall focus on in strengthening the capacities of all those involved in this process ahead of us up to December“, said Teja Kolar, leader of the IPA project team.
The long-term goal of the Project is to create a modern and efficient management of the public procurement process, a more transparent use and savings of public resources, a stable, transparent and competitive public procurement system, as well as improved implementation of the strategic framework in the implementation of public procurement policy.
