Workshop: ‘EU accession negotiations regarding Chapter 5 – Public Procurement’

Belgrade, 27 November 2018 – The Project organised a workshop: “EU accession negotiations regarding Chapter 5 – Public Procurementfor the members of the negotiating team for Chapter 5 – Public Procurement, comprising of the representatives of the Public Procurement Office, the Republic Commission for the Protection of Rights in Public Procurement Procedures, State Audit Institution, Ministry of European Integration and line ministries.

This event was another from the series of workshops planned in accordance with the Training Plan developed by the Project. The speaker at the workshop was Ms Maja Kušt (Public procurement expert).

Ms Kušt presented and explained, first, the scope of Chapter 5 Public procurement: its content (the relevant EU acquis), closing criteria (benchmarks) and strategic approach taken by the Republic of Serbia (strategies and action plans). She continued then with presenting requirements and challenges concerning the process of negotiations such as cooperation between ministries and departments, collection, processing and presenting data etc. Finally, she presented links between Chapter 5 and two other negotiations Chapters: Chapter 22 – Regional Policy and Coordination of Structural Instruments and Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights.

The workshop was held in the interactive and engaging atmosphere and included, in addition to presentations on above mentioned topics, also questions and answers, free exchange of views and open discussion of participants. The workshop enabled the participants to get detailed information about the relevant issues concerning practical aspects of negotiations for Serbia’s accession to the European Union, as well as to express their opinions and suggestions.
